Recently, a meeting has been held between the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka, Khaled Nasser AlAmeri, and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody.

 Sharing his views at the event, the Ambassador stated that he had recently met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and also highlighted that, as a country with very close, friendly relations with Sri Lanka, the UAE views the recent political change in the country very positively, while further expressing their keen interest in investment opportunities, particularly in the Energy Sector. Furthermore, he stated his firm belief that President Dissanayake’s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would serve as an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about these investment opportunities and to reach various agreements.

Speaking at the event, Energy Minister Eng. Kumara Jayakody expressed that the UAE, which is Sri Lanka’s sixth largest export market and where a large number of Sri Lankans are employed, is a wealthy and prosperous country with a strong friendship with Sri Lanka, and that he highly values all forms of relations with the UAE. He also expressed that he firmly believes that investment ties, especially in the Energy Sector, will further strengthen that friendship. The Minister also emphasized the importance of collaboration for Energy Stability in the region and stated that he hopes to reach many more agreements during his upcoming visit to the UAE with the President.
