Engaged in an inspection visit to the Kolonnawa Oil Terminal, the Minister of Energy, Eng. Kumara Jayakody also took part in the ceremonial launch of the “Clean Sri Lanka” National Program yesterday (01) morning. While addressing the employees who gathered during the visit, the Minister also shared his views.
“The growth and stability of the energy sector are crucial for the country’s development. Our government believes that the energy sector should remain under the direct government ownership, regulation and authority. When the previous government attempted to change the energy sector’s government ownership, we not only stood against it but also succeeded in defeating it,” he added.
“We certainly have proposals for the development of the energy sector. We have just begun implementing them. Also, we give high consideration to issues such as the job security of employees. We expect you to support this government program, while protecting the institution and enhancing its efficiency.”
“We need to understand the broader objectives of the Clean Sri Lanka National Program. Combating theft, waste, and corruption is key part of these broader objectives. That is why the Clean Sri Lanka National Program, launched today, is unique, and today is particularly a significant day as its inaugural day,” he further added.
Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Mr. D.J.A.S. De S. Rajakaruna, Managing Director, Mr. Mayura Netthikumarage and many other senior officials also attended this event.
