“Free Electricity Connections for Poor Families……”

“Provisions have been allocated under the directions of the President”

Minister Dullas said in Gampaha………………

The Minister emphasized that “Our society ever picks holes in everything. The don’t see commitment and progress of an institute. CEB is always being criticized. Our society doesn’t see the value of the unique service of CEB providing electricity for approximately of 27 lakhs of consumers at a concessionary price of Rs. 3.50 or Rs. 5.50, even though its production cost is Rs. 23.00. Now we have reached the final stage of illuminating the entire island with electricity. Taking into account the number of electricity consumers at district level, around two hundred eighty-two thousand electricity consumers are in Matara District.  However, 1607 houses still don’t have electricity facility. Pursuant to the policy statement of Vistas of Prosperity of HE the President, we have already taken a policy decision to provide free electricity facility to those 1607 houses before the coming New Year Festival.”

The measures taken by CEB headed by the Ministry of Power to make stable and improve relevant supply in future was taken into discussion at this meeting.
