Ministry of Power and State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development will be under one roof…

Arrangements have been made to bring the Ministry of Power and State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development to one building for achieving administrative efficiency and public convenience and to run the both Ministries in an economical way.

The State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development were also established parallel to the Ministry of Power by the present new government with the objective of fulfilling future goals in the power sector. With the establishment of the State Ministry and attachment of the staff headed by the State Minister created congestion in the building with limited space where the Ministry of Power was functioning. However, taking into account the huge amount to be borne for functioning of these two Ministries at separate places and the administrative difficulties, it has been decided to shift Ministry of Power and State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development to No. 437, Galle Road, Colombo 03.

Shifting of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority which was functioning at the BMICH spending a monthly rental of Rs. 4,229,415.00 and a part of the head office of Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) which was functioning at E.H.Cooray building at the monthly rental of Rs. 550,000.00 to the building which the Ministry of Power was functioning will bring economic and institutional benefits to the institute.

Bringing all the institutes which come under the purview of the  Ministry of Power may result in providing efficient service to the public whilst reducing the expenditure of the government. Hence, the Ministry expects to set up a new building that could accommodate the Ministry of Power and all the institutes which come under the purview of it.
