Minister Dullas Alahapperuma explains at the discussion with the Japanese Ambassador
H.E. Akira Sugiyama, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka states that Japan would provide 9.6 Mn US$ for the most effective Corona eradication process in the region by the Government of Sri Lanka, as a token for the Sri Lanka’s historical friendship and will continue to provide Japanese technical and financial assistance for the growth of Sri Lanka’s power sector.
The Ambassador made these comments while participating in an official discussion with the Minister of Power, Dullas Alahapperuma at the Ministry premises recently.
Hon. Minister Dullas Alahapperuma stated that his goal is to provide quality and affordable electricity service to the island while achieving the sustainable Development Goals and added that the target HE the President is to achieve 70% of the power generation in Sri Lanka by 2030 with green and renewable energy.
H.E. Akira Sugiyama, Ambassador of Japan stated that he appreciates the present process of enhancing the energy sector being implemented in Sri Lanka and the Japanese government has focused on providing a (Liquefied Natural Gas) LNG Plant to Sri Lanka and supplying LNG.
Minister of Power and Energy Dullas Alahapperuma said that measures will be taken to encourage and protect electricity workers with a positive approach in the process of modernizing power sector in Sri Lanka and paid his gratitude to the Government of Japan and the people of Japan for the unique technical and financial support provided in this regard on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.
First secretary to the Government of Japan, Chiharu Heshiai and Second Secretary to the Embassy of Japan Kenchi Sakeya were also present at the occasion.
