Minister of Power, Dullas Alahapperuma expressed recently at Polonnaruwa that the number of electricity consumers in Sri Lanka should be 100% before 02nd of November 2021 before the completion of the second year of the first term of office of HE the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The Minister expressed these ideas addressing a meeting of the Performance Committee on Rural Economic Development in Polonnaruwa District. The meeting was held at the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat.
The Minister further said that there are 1359 families without electricity facility in Polonnaruwa district. The present government considers electricity as a basic human right. Therefore, the Ministry of Power is committed to provide even solar power for remote areas where citizens are living on remote mountain tops and the national grid fails to reach them.
