Hon. Duminda Dissanayaka , State Minister of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development emphasizes that all the measures are taken expeditiously to increase the contribution of renewable energy within the national grid up to 80% by 2030 as per the “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” of HE the President.
The State Minister emphasized these ideas when the ten member scholarly committee that was appointed to examine the steps to be taken to achieve the renewable energy development goals by 2030 met the Minister of Power yesterday morning (10) at the Ministry. Several senior officers of the Ministry including the Secretary of the Ministry of Power Mrs. Wasantha Perera and State Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Samantha Perera participated in this event.
The committee members said that renewable resources are not always alike and special attention should be paid in this regard. Further, they told the Minister that it should be focused on the fact that whether the renewable sources presently available in the country are sufficient to meet the increasing demand for electricity.
Minister Dissanayaka stressed that the direction of the power sector of Sri Lanka has been focused on renewable sources and strategies should be observed to promote the businessmen and investors who are engaged in renewable energy in parallel to the public sector to achieve the future development goals.
Further, Hon. Duminda Dissanayayaka, State Minister of Solar Power, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development emphasized that all the measures should be taken to facilitate the country’s journey towards vistas of prosperity by renewable energy and he is ever forward to take firm decisions in this regard irrespective of time and cost.
