Kalukele brightens with electricity with the Minister’s instructions..…….
Kalukele is a remote area in Rideemaliyadda Divisional Secretariat Division where 60 families are living and still satisfying with the lamp dreaming of electricity. The plight of the residents of this area has been revealed by the media today (10) and Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma, Minister of Power advised the authorizes concerned to take measures to supply electricity to Kalukele with electricity with immediate effect.
Even though number of requests was made for year by the villagers, they haven’t got a favourable answer. The Minister of Power enquired in this regard from the relevant authorities of the CEB and advised to give them a favourable response with immediate effect.
The officers of the CEB paid attention in this regard on the advice of Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma, The Minister of Power and they got to know that even though a project was implemented to supply power to this village under the Uva Udanaya Project implemented in 2017, it was suspended as the Madolsima Plantation Ltd. was reluctant to remove the trees to erect the electricity line. However, the trees that were an obstacle for the construction of the electricity line have been removed.
Hon. Dullas Ahahapperuma, Minister of Power paid special attention on the above facts and information received from Mrs. Wasantha Perera, Secretary to the Ministry and advised the parties concerned to take measures sor power supply to Kalukele Village.
Accordingly, the CEB headed by the Ministry of Power will take immediate measures to supply electricity to Kalukele where was in darkness for years within a very short period of time.
