Financial and Technical Assistance of the Indian Government for the Advancement of Power Sector …..
Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Gopal Baglay emphasizes he is pleased about the fact that Sri Lanka has obtained a prominent place among the countries with continuous power supply for 24 hours in the South Asian region and he intends to provide financial and technical assistance
for the advancement of the power sector in Sri Lanka. He further said that, he will consider about providing engineering knowledge of India and directing investors for the Renewable Energy Projects that will be implemented in Sri Lanka in future.
The Indian High Commissioner expressed these views at an official discussion held with Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma, Minister of Power today (02) at the Ministry premises.
The Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that the Ministry of Power is taking firm measures to meet the electricity demand increasing daily and he is pleased about the concern of the Indian Government towards the development of power and energy projects being implemented and measures will be taken to nourish the national grid mostly with renewable energy.
The Minister in charge said that he agrees to share knowledge of the electricity sector and technical knowledge with India further strengthening bilateral friendship between the two countries and extended his condolences for the demise of the then President of India HE the Pranath Mukarji on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.
