A review meeting on the activities implemented by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was held yesterday (12) at the Ministry of Petroleum. Hon. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and Mrs. Wasantha Perera, Secretary to the Ministry participated in this meeting .                                                                                                                                                                          

Measures have been taken by the corporation to initiate number of development projects to expedite petroleum supply of Sri Lanka to the consumers without any shortage in the production. Accordingly, it is proposed to establish Kerawalapitiya LGN power plant, to construct an additional system of pipes from Colombo harbor, to establish a new cluster of fuel tanks to maintain a fuel reserve to supply fuel at least for a month instead of existing two week reserve, to increase the capacity of regional supply centres, to use a train to transport fuel from Western Province to out stations to avoid traffic congestion and to use an extra train only for transporting fuel and to purchase a train engine by the corporation and transfer to the Department of Railways, if required.

Expressing views, the Minister stated that since general public is always making complaints time to time regarding fuel and asked to take necessary measures to  provide fuel with high quality continuously to the manufacturing market. The Minister emphasized that, even though Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is a profitable venture, all the staff should be committed to make it more profitable.

Further, he requested every officer of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to accomplish their duties properly with responsibility.
