Mr. Buddhi Athauda, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to France “I’m always trying to get some service to Sri Lanka from the countries where I serve as the Ambassador”. “Today I met the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development. Having discussed with him I understood that he is making a strenuous exertion to enhance the Renewable Energy of Sri Lanka and make Sri Lanka self-sufficient with electricity. I promised the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development to give the assistance of the Government of France to the best.
The ambassador expressed these views at an official discussion held with Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development at the Ministry premises yesterday (11th).
At this meeting, present condition of the electricity of Sri Lanka and the sustainable solutions to be taken were discussed by the Minister In Charge and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the France and further discussed to constantly fulfill the increasing demand for electricity at the regular growth of population.
At this meeting Minister of Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development stressed that his primary objective is to surpass the other countries in the region in respect of electricity supply and it is a great endeavour of a government to pay special attention on the infrastructure of the public as a developing country and this background makes it easy to grow as a country and create the access for an well-organized path. He added that it is expected to expand the investment opportunities.
Expressing views, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the France said that Sri Lanka is a centre of tourist attraction due to its natural beauty, prosperity and it makes the avenue for a cluster of business opportunities and he had intended to look into such business opportunities and encourage the countries he is serving to invest in Sri Lanka.
Hon. Minister Karunanayake paid his gratitude to the views of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the France and said that the Assistance of France is expected in the future development process of the country and it confirms long term diplomatic and friendly relationships between Sri Lanka and France.
