He stated that “We expect to expand solar and wind power generation in the neighbor islands of the Delfts island based on the success of solar and wind power generation being implemented . We have planned to decrease the expenditure on power generation in Sri Lanka by promoting solar and wind power generation”.

He expressed these ideas taking part in an observation visit to Delfts Island while on an official visit to Vavuniya and Jaffna.

Mr. Karunanayaka further added that ,

“Our main objective is to identify deficiencies and problems within power generation in this island, avoid them and improve renewable power generation. Around 4500 people are living in this island. There is an issue of connecting the power generated within this area to the National Electricity System. Presently, we are studying how to avoid these obstacles and create balanced development in the power generation in the country through renewable Energy Resources.”
