Electricity from sea waves soon

The Finnish Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rauli Suikkanen had agreed to provide fullest assistance to generate electricity from sea waves in Sri Lanka.

The Ambassador said that at a special discussion with Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya held at the ministry.

“Our country is surrounded by the sea and therefore we can generate electricity using sea waves easily. And also we can forecast the capacity of electricity which can be generated. Hence the project can be launched with the latest technology with minimal cost. Then Sri Lanka will be able to face shortages of electricity when we experience during the dry seasons”.minister said.

Mr.Suren Batagoda, secretary to the ministry, Mr. Keerthi Wickramarathne, Chairman of Sri Lanka Sustainable energy Authority and many officials participated at the occasion.
