Plans are afoot to generate 20% of the power requirement through renewable energy sources. The finish Ambassador Terhi Hakala recently expressed her government’s desire to assist Sri Lanka in renewable energy power generation. She added that with the looming power crisis in the world, the only alternative is to turn to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power etc. She added that the Finish government is hence committed to assisting in this endeavour.
As a measure to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, Mrs. Terhi Hakala said at a meeting with Mnister Patali Champika Ranawaka at his ministry that she will present a detailed study of Sri Lanka’s Renewable Energy methods to her government, and take measures to implement them in Finland. She also discussed at length measures taken by the ministry of power aand Energy on power conservation methods.
She also pledged her country’s fullest support and cooperation for renewable energy power generation and power conservation measures taken by the ministry of power and Energy, during the discussions with minister Ranawaka.
